Such a beautiful sunset. I can't wait for summer. Then, I went and picked up my good friend Adam from work and we went to dinner and maybe did possibly one of the coolest things there is to do for free in Orange County. We went for a ride in this big orange ball.
It was a beautiful night and you could see all over the valley. And then of course we rode the free carousel too.
The next day we started our Disneyland fun. We rode on some rides in the morning and went to the expo to get our race packets.
That night we ate at the Blue Bayou restaurant that is on the waterfront of the Pirates of the Carribean ride. It was the best food. It is a little pricey but I would highly recommend it to anyone. It was the perfect way to get some protein and carbs the night before the big race.
The next morning we woke up at 3 am to get to the park by 4 so we could be at the starting line by 4:30 am. It was an early morning. We were assigned corrals to start in and each corral started about 5 minutes apart. Brooke and I were in the same corral. Our corral was made up of the people who had never done a half marathon before or "the official party corral" as they called us. That eased my nerves a bit.
The first 5 miles were through California Adventure and Disneyland. It was so much fun. I finished in 2 hours and 34 minutes. Not bad for my first half marathon and a hurt foot.
We were very happy to be done and I felt very accomplished to have finished this. I remember one of my New Year's resolutions for 2012 was to do a 5k and a friend of mine suggested to me to try a 10k and I said heck no and now I have finished a half marathon. It was so much fun (now that the residual pain is gone.) The next day we went to Huntington Beach and to lunch at Ruby's Diner on the pier. It was a beautiful weekend. The weather could not have been better. I was dreading coming back to the cold but it made my January a little happier with some vitamin D to get me through the winter. I want to go back :)
