another year older

The older I get the better my birthdays are. Maybe because I have more money to really celebrate or I care less so less disappointment. I don't know. But this year I was crossing the mid 20's hump into my later 20s and I had been graduated from college for 5 years so I was determined to make it fun. I had a lot to celebrate. I started off the weekend before with a girls trip to California. It was so fun and relaxing. We ate a lot of good food, slept in, went to the most beautiful beach I have ever been to in Cali, went to a Dodgers game, and of course there was plenty of shopping! It was such a fun and relaxing weekend!

On my actual birthday I went shopping up in Park City with my mom and sisters. That night I met up with some of my close girl friends to go to my favorite restaurant La Jolla Groves and frozen yogurt at Farr's. We also saw a terrible new Miley Cyrus movie that I am trying to pretend didn't happen. Despite that I had a great day and I'm excited for the next year!

5 years ago I took my RN boards. I remember it being somewhat unfulfilling because it took be less time than some of my tests in nursing school. I found out on my 21st birthday that I passed. 5 years later I still have the same job and I absolutely love it. I'm so glad that I chose such a rewarding profession. The hardest 2 years of my life (aka nursing school) were so worth it and I made so many good friends. I love my job! It is such a huge blessing in my life!

a little roadtrip home

This weekend I made the venture home to Boise with my old roommate Dede. I love Boise and I love bringing people to my hometown. It was Brooke's birthday so it was the perfect weekend to go home and the weather was beautiful! For Brooke's birthday we went to dinner and the new Zac Efron movie "The Lucky One" in downtown Boise. (The movie was so good by the way! Can't get enough of Zac.) Then on Brooke's birthday we went over for cake and chatted for hours catching up on life and reminiscing about the good old days! I'm so glad we could be there to celebrate. 26 will be a great year.

The soundtrack of my life

Music is a big part of each day for me. I listen to it at the gym, while I'm getting ready, in the car...you know all day. I care about enjoying the music I listen to so here are my current faves. The soundtrack of my life currently...

1. Neon Trees - Everybody Talks
2. Mat Kearney - Sooner or Later
3. Fun. - We Are Young
4. Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know
5. Train - Drive By
6. Andy Grammar - Fine By Me
7. Jason Mraz - I Won't Give Up

Reminisicing...

Read my next post for the story on this one!

Reminiscing...

It has been so long since I have posted. 2012 has been a good year so far. I still love living in Orem. I decided my lack of posting can be attributed to the winter time (not many exciting things happening) and how busy the hospital is in the winter (not much time to post). Either way, I'm back and hopefully I can make some exciting things happen to post about, starting with my trip to California in a few weeks! I can't wait for some sunshine. Truthfully though, this winter has been one of the better winters of my life due to the uncharacteristically warm weather. I really hope this is the new norm for Utah or I may have to move somewhere where that is the norm.
So the other day I was reminiscing on a few funny things from the past and I thought I would blog about them because I thought they were so great. First, Freddie Prinze Jr...whatever happened to him right? I think She's All That was my favorite movie of his and maybe Down to You with Julia Stiles as a close second.

I found this recent pic of him. He has definitely turned into a man. And just in case you're wondering, he is a stay at home dad now while his wife of 10 years Sarah Michelle Gellar works. Love him. He was a very happy part of my teenage years. What a babe.

Second, this song isn't very old but I rediscovered it this past weekend when my bestie Brooke was in town. "White Horse" by Taylor Swift. So a few years ago I was "dating" this boy. The quotations around dating are necessary because we were dating except that we weren't allowed to call it that. This relationship obviously went with a lot of drama and a DTR about every other week. Nightmare!!! Anyway, I remember I was at work one day and we were planning to have another DTR that night. On my way home from work I had "White Horse" and I came home and told my roommates what would be happening that night and said that I heard that song on the way home and decided I would just play it for him and be done. So my roommates and I layed on the couch in the dark and listened to that song until he came over. Haha...needless to say the pain of noncommitment and too many DTRs for one relationship did not end that night and I did not play that song for him but it is funny to laugh about now. I wish I would have done it! My next post is the music video for your enjoyment. So good! Gotta love being single.
